Our Workshops
Think B4 U Click
It’s a kid’s world when it comes to IM, email, blogging and MySpace, but have you ever gotten yourself in trouble by dashing off an angry IM message or posting something snarky on someone’s social profile? Or maybe you’ve been on the receiving end. In this hands-on workshop, we’re going to take a look at how to communicate with your friends (and enemies) online better as well as keep your private info, private, kiddo.
Internet Safety for Kids
Many have heard the horror stories about MySpace and other social networking sites cropping up in the news. Parents and educators have admitted they know so little about this technology they are afraid for their children to even use the Internet! This workshop will arm you with knowledge to teach your kids how to protect themselves, how to clean up their personal profiles and how to keep private information private.
Cyberbullying on The Rise: What You Can Do To Stop It
P911, bff, ttyl, lol, what are our children talking about? From inclusion/exclusion comments in a person’s profile to directly attacking someone, bullying has taken on a new dimension through a variety of online tools. In this workshop, adults will learn more about Instant Messaging (IM), the subversive tactics of cyber-fighting and resources to help you protect your children from cyberbullies.
Cyber-mentoring Kids: Creating Relationships, Furthering Education
Mentoring children online or “cyber-mentoring” is what our own “Zoey” does daily in PSF’s model program, Zoey’s Room. Learn how to use videoconferencing, email, chat rooms and Internet technologies to reach classrooms of students and create more enthusiasm for learning.
